From the village center in Scheffau (738 m) follow the signs in the direction of Jägerwirt (883 m) and follow trail no. 814 along the creek, past the Mittersbach farm until you reach the Steinacker estate on the hill. From there you turn right on the path no. 822 and continue on the farms Kaisern on the gravel road to Riedlhütte (1.224 m). From here follow the signs to the Gruttenhütte (1.620 m). Return: From the Gruttenhütte you follow the Wilder Kaiser Steig (path no. 823) back to Scheffau. On the way back you will pass the Wegscheid Hochalm and Jägerwirt (883 m). From there you follow the signs to Scheffau until you reach the village center again.
