3-day mountain hut tour - stage 2

3-day mountain hut tour - stage 2

Description

Nature experiences with stunning views, homemade delicacies and cool refreshments!

From the Gruttenhütte, head west on the 14a road and after approx. 15 minutes take a few steps to the Wilder-Kaiser-Steig (WKS) 823 below the Kaiserkopf. Stay north-west on the WKS and hike below the Kaisergipfel Treffauer and Tuxeck over the Lenggries (one of the largest gravel cirques on the Wilder Kaiser), through fragrant mountain pines and mountain forests, with the Kitzbühel Alps and the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern always in view.
The wild and romantic Kaiser-Hochalm, situated below the Sonnenstein, is not open to the public but makes a wonderful photo stop.
Continue along WKS 821/823 to the Steiner-Hochalm (1,257 m). During a cosy break, the hut hosts Maridi and Peter serve drinks (no food!) accompanied by spontaneous harp playing and singing.
From the Steiner-Hochalm (1,257 m) you now hike downhill via the Steiner-Niederalm to the Hinterschießling Alm (1,020 m). Enjoy the peace and quiet at the foot of the Scheffauer, the fantastic view of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Salve and let the Steiner family spoil you with specialities from the farm's own Angus cattle. Through the cool Rehbachklamm gorge with bridges, waterfalls and a cave in an old mining tunnel, you return to the valley to Scheffau. The "Platz der Begegnung" below the municipal office invites you to enjoy a refreshing dip in the pedal pool and arm pool.

The free "KaiserJet" hiking bus takes you from the bus stop in Scheffau, Dorf back to the starting point in Going. Find out about the journey times.

Please note:
the Steiner-Hochalm only serves drinks!
