Christmas markets in and around the Wilder Kaiser region
#evenbetterinreality
The Wilder Kaiser region is a particularly amazing place to enjoy the pre-Christmas season. During this period, the old church squares are transformed into Advent markets featuring many local handicrafts: At the Christmas market in Going and the Advent Nativity scenes in Söll, visitors are invited to stroll through the enchanted snow-covered villages while enjoying the spicy scent of mulled wine and the sounds of contemplative folk music. If you’re keen to have a more contemplative Advent experience in the mountains, take the Hartkaiserbahn gondola lift in Ellmau at 1,555m above sea level to Ellmi's enchanted mountain advent.
Before the quiet, contemplative time of year commences in the Wilder Kaiser region, it gets really loud: Traditionally, horned figures such as Krampus and Perchten get up to "mischief” around St. Nicholas' Day at the beginning of December.
