The Erl Passion Music
In Erl, an entire village has been telling the story of Jesus' suffering and death on the stage of the Passion Playhouse for centuries, using all the means of theatrical art. It has always been a courageous and curious village community that has commissioned something special for the premiere of the Passion Play 2025: a new Passion music by the Austrian composer Christian Kolonovits! What will accompany the performances from 25 May with a smaller ensemble every weekend until 4 October will be premiered in the Festspielhaus in April with a large orchestra, accompanied by texts by the well-known actor and director of the Passion Play Martin Leutgeb. In this way, our guests from near and far can experience the long-standing close partnership between the Passion Play and the Festival in the flesh and get in the mood for the Passion Play together with the Erl people on the Easter weekend.
