The Wilder Kaiser region is a popular destination for coach groups in summer as in winter. Hikers, daring mountaineers and fixed-rope climbers scale the rugged peaks of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. The other side of the range offers more leisurely activities: the summer cable cars take you to the gently rolling hills of the Grasberge mountains and let you experience stunning mountain adventure worlds. Another highlight of the region: the Bergdoktor filming locations in Ellmau, Going and Söll, most of which are open to visitors. And the region has many other exciting sights to offer to summer visitors. But it is in winter that the Wilder Kaiser truly comes into its own: countless events, perfectly prepared slopes and trails, and more than 80 state-of-the-art cable cars await you at the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, one of Austria’s most modern ski resorts. Head out by yourself to enjoy a leisurely hike along lovely winter paths, go on a snowshoe hike through unspoilt forests covered in deep snow, treat a loved one to a romantic ride in a horse-drawn carriage, or indulge in a fun-filled day of tobogganing on the many runs of Ellmau, Going and Söll.

Hintersteiner See lake
A charming mountain lake that spans 56 hectares and is up to 36 metres deep. It is located in the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve, 883 metres above sea level.
