When hiking with children in the Wilder Kaiser region you’re almost always on gentle grassy slopes. This tour takes you right up close to the Wilder Kaiser massif.
The Gaudeamushütte is located on an Alpine pasture on the southern side of the Wilder Kaiser at a height of 1,270 metres at the foot of the Törlspitzen mountains. From the hut you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks such as Ellmauer Halt, Karlspitzen and Ellmauer Tor, as well as down into the valley.
By car you take the toll road (€ 5 per car) to get to the Wochenbrunner Alm car park lying at 1,050 metres. From here the ascent to the Gaudeamushütte takes about half an hour following the signs to Wilder Kaiser. The sun terrace at the Gaudeamushütte is a lovely place to linger for a while. The “Gaunerschlupf” a few metres from the sun terrace inside the forest is a great place for children to have some fun and games.
What’s special: Wildlife park with roe deer, stags and goats at the Wochenbrunner Alm
