What is impressive today, first and foremost a beautiful spectacle, was originally a symbol of resistance. In the year 1796 French troops under Napoleon I. threatened the province of Tyrol, the Estates petitioned the divine assistance of the "Sacred Heart" against the invaders. Until today they keep their promise.
