The handicraft market, a fixture of the event summer of Going, has long since become a tradition in itself. Almost forgotten crafts such as 'Piloten' (giant wooden post) driving, quill embroidery, 'Doggl' (traditional shoes made of wool) making or woodturning are cultivated and preserved. Look over the shoulders of the Wallner brothers, who are bringing the centuries-old turning wheel back into shape, and take a look at how 'Doggln' are made with Helga. You can also join them in some places and try out a skill yourself.
The market is framed by genuine Tyrolean folk music with harp, dulcime, zither, alphorn blowers and accordion as well as old, traditional songs and Schuhplattler. The local farmers' wives cook tasty Tyrolean farmhouse fare using natural products from the garden and fields. Try home-made specialities such as 'Kasspatzeln' (traditional Tyrolean spaetzle with fried onions and grated cheese), 'Brodakrapfen' (traditional Tyrolean fried pastries filled with curd and cheese, sometimes with potatoes as well) or 'Germkiachln' (Tyrolean fried doughnut, served with pickled cabbage or cranberries).
The market starts at 01:00 p.m. and ents at 06:00 p.m.
Experience this unique, beautiful and impressive atmosphere together with the people of Going.
Entrance is free of charge! The handicraft market is open rain, hail or shine.
